JERRY WAYNE HILL, a resident of the Oakland Community, longtime Employee of the Carrier Corporation and husband of Pat Hill died at 12:35 A.M. Friday, August 7, 2009 at his home on Kylie Gayle Road where he had lived for the past three years. He was 57 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Funeral services for Mr. Hill were conducted at 2 P.M. Sunday, August 9th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. John Ed Watkins, Pastor of the Morris Chapel Baptist Church in Somerville, officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Wayne Hodge, Pastor of the 45 Baptist Church at Moscow. Special remarks were given by his nephew, Kevin Treadway. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.

Mr. Hill was born in Memphis on February 7, 1952, the son of Zettie Mae Prosser Hill and the late William Clifton Hill.

He was educated in the Fayette County Public School System and was a graduate of the Fayette County High School in Somerville Class of 1970.

He was married December 9, 1969 to the former Pat Watkins of Moscow, Employee of Craig Lumber Company in Collierville, who survives.

Mr. Hill was employed by the Carrier Air Conditioning Corporation in Collierville, for thirty-two years, serving as a Lead Man for the company before his illness.

He was a member of the 45 Baptist Church and will be remembered as a family-oriented person who enjoyed nature, hunting, fishing and gardening.

He was a lifelong resident of Fayette County and was an avid supporter of his children�s and grandchildren�s extracurricular and sporting activities.

In addition to his wife of 39 years, Mr. Hill is survived by his daughter, Amy Hill Griffin (Greg) of Somerville; his mother, Zettie Mae Hill of Somerville; his sister, Ann Hill Kelley of Somerville; three grandsons: Jeremy Griffin, Drew Griffin and Tate Hill and one nephew, Kevin Treadway of Somerville.

His son, Jason Wayne Hill preceded him in death.

Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Lee Hill, Earl Hill, Edward Simmons, �Little Kevin� Treadway, Donald Watkins and Joe Yager.

Otis Hill served as an honorary casket bearer.
