Mrs. Effie SKELTON CARPENTER, 95, of Michigan City, Miss., died February 1, 1999 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. The widow of Boyd R. CARPENTER, she was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on February 3 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Valley Grove Cemetery in Michigan City. Bro. George BOLDEN officiated.
She leaves a son, James T. CARPENTER; four daughters, Dorothy MASON, Geraldine WATKINS, Lanita CARPENTER, Marcelle CARPENTER; a brother, Elbert SKELTON; a sister, Nellie BYRD; 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
