LORENE AUSTIN EDWARDS
(December 8, 1929 - August 16, 2009)
LORENE AUSTIN EDWARDS, a resident of the Warren Community in Fayette County and wife of the late Clyde Evans Edwards died at 1:15 A.M. Sunday, August 16, 2009 at the Covington Manor Retirement Center in Covington where she had resided for two years. She was 79 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Funeral services for Mrs. Edwards were conducted at 2 P.M. Tuesday, August 18th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. John Ed Watkins, Pastor of the Morris Chapel Baptist Church in Somerville, officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.

Mrs. Edwards was born in Booneville, Mississippi on December 8, 1929. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion Frank Austin and Mary Ellen Stewart Austin.

She was educated in the Prentiss County Mississippi Public School System at Booneville and was a former resident of Walnut, Mississippi before moving to Fayette County.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Morris Chapel Baptist Church. She was the wife of the late Clyde Evans Edwards, Construction Employee for Grady Morris & Son Lumber Company in Somerville before his death on September 27, 2000.

She served as a childcare provider in earlier years and her interests included reading, knitting and crocheting.

Survivors of Mrs. Edwards include two daughters, Carolyn Box of Moscow and Melissa Edwards of Somerville; two sons, Richard Box of Somerville and Kenneth Box of Falmouth, MI; two step-children, Doyle Edwards of Paris, TN and Sharlette Day of Somerville; two brothers, Johnny Austin of Corinth, MS and Willie Austin of Booneville, MS; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Christopher Davis, Justin Davis, James Davis, Allen Carter, Grady Bennett and J. D. Moore.
